The society receives well over 200 animals each month. Unfortunately, as Flagler County grows, so does the number of abandoned, neglected and abused animals, This year an additional 500 animals were brought into the shelter over what was handled last year. |
| An average of 15% of all stray animals are
claimed by their owners and approximately 25% of all remaining animals
are adopted to new homes. The remaining are painlessly euthanized by injection.
The shelter opened in 1982 on property donated by ITT. At that time the shelter was staffed entirely by volunteers. Today we still rely heavily on volunteers as we have a very small (but dedicated) staff. The shelter provides a variety of services ranging from emergency assistance for stray or wild animals to humane education. Animal abuse cases are investigated and prosecuted, a low coast spay/neuter program is available to help those who need assistance in helping to fight the tremendous pet over-population problem. |
| The Flagler County Humane Society is a private non-profit organization financed by donations and fees for services. Our current project is a much needed kennel expansion scheduled for groundbreaking this year. | ![]() |
| The Flagler County Humane Society is lucky to have a caring, supportive public, however more help is always needed! Volunteers are desperately needed and donations are forever appreciated. If you'd like to lend a helping hand or donate supplies or funds please call us at 445-1814. |
